About 20-25 people, young and old, turned out for this inaugural event at the historic Hamline Playground Building on Saturday, January 28, 2006.

Of those, 14 people 15 people completed a brief Questionnaire [download PDF (68K)] about interests and potential involvement in our group. Here are some results:

  • Seven people expressed interest in regular meetings
    • Most are interested in monthly meetings
    • Some were interested in quarterly meetings

  • Three people expressed interest in leading a project

  • We also received several emails from people who could not attend this event, but are interested in further participation

  • The event closed with a brief Event Evaluation; see below for comments...

Given the feedback from this event, we are planning an organizational meeting sometime in March or April. After that, we may consider ongoing bimonthly meetings -- a compromise between monthly and quarterly sessions.

- Oral History project with past students of Hancock School
- Small history collections by block: maps, house histories, stories, etc.
- Archives of neighborhood history: on Web and exhibits in various venues
- "Fireside" events: authors, guest speakers, storytelling, etc.
